Getting started

From the box to a calendar on the wall, in about ten minutes.

What is in the box

The display, a USB-C cable, and a card with these steps on it.

1. Charge it

Plug the display into any USB power supply with the cable. The red light means it is charging; green means it is full. If it was already full it can stay red for a while before it notices. You can set it up while it charges.

2. Join its network

While plugged in and not yet set up, the display offers a Wi-Fi network of its own called glimly_setup. Join it from your phone or laptop, then open http://glimly.local in a browser (or http://10.20.20.10 if that name does not resolve). The settings page opens.

The panel shows the same network name and address, so you cannot lose them.

3. Give it your Wi-Fi

Pick your home network from the list the settings page shows and enter its password; an open network needs no password. If yours is not listed - a hidden network, or the display too far from the router - choose Type the network name instead. The display joins it and shows its new address on the panel. Reconnect your phone to your own Wi-Fi and open http://glimly.local again.

4. Add a calendar

Paste an iCal link for each calendar you want shown. Calendars explains where to find that link for Google, Outlook, iCloud and the rest. The preview on the settings page shows exactly what the panel will draw.

5. Choose when it refreshes

The display fetches a fresh calendar at the times you set, three by default, and sleeps in between. More refreshes keep it more up to date and use more of the battery; a refresh that finds nothing changed skips the redraw.

6. Hang it up

Unplug it. It draws the calendar once more and goes to sleep until the next refresh. The button on the back redraws it on demand; it is the only one you can reach, and the others inside the case are for repairs.
