Connect a device

The same settings the display serves at glimly.local, reached down a USB-C cable instead of over Wi-Fi. For a device that cannot join its network, this is the way in.

Before you start

  1. Use Chrome or Edge on a computer. Phones and Safari cannot open serial ports.
  2. Plug the display into the computer with a USB-C data cable, not a charge-only one.
  3. Press Choose the device and pick the serial port that appears when you plug it in.

Nothing here needs the device's Wi-Fi, and a settings password does not apply over the cable: holding the cable is the proof the password exists to ask for. A forgotten one can be cleared from here.
